SOME MUCH NEEDED R&R (Review and Recommendation) -

This Month:
101 Ways to Reach Your Community, by Steve Sjogren

* The purpose of this devotional challenge is simple; to get you thinking about and doing one action item from God’s Word this week. If this one doesn’t resonate with you, find another one. God’s Word is full of many great “go,” “love,” “help,” and “give” statements for you to choose from. Print it out and take it with you wherever you go. Then trust the Holy Spirit to lead you into situations and encounters where you can live4God, impact and encourage others and demonstrate God as real and awesome.

Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.

1 Thessalonians 5:14 (NLT)

Warn the unruly (ataktous): "those who are out of line—the loafers, the disorderly, and the unruly" (The Amplified New Testament). The word unruly is a military term that referred to the soldier who broke rank and did not stand in his place. Too many believers are not where they belong. They belong in the ranks of the Lord and of the church: fellowshipping with the Lord and fellow believers; serving the Lord and ministering to believers; helping to reach the lost and ministering to the poor and needy. But they are out in the world doing their own thing, fulfilling their own desires and lusts.

The unruly must be warned and admonished. They are treading on thin ice. They are damaging their own souls and hurting others through their unruly testimony. The Lord will not tolerate such unruly behavior. The implication is that He will judge all unruly behavior.
